The Strand Theater
Project Background: Founded in 2001, The Strand Theater Initiative is a non-profit created with the mission of reviving Zelienople’s old Strand Theater as a cultural, education, and community outreach center. Current patrons love the theater, but due to its location and out-of-date website, it struggles to compete with other local theaters and garner much-needed attention from younger cohorts of people interested in theater and the arts.
Problem: How can we improve market perception and visibility, especially for younger theater lovers?
Process: Conducted client interviews, talked to current theater patrons, and reviewed detailed market analysis to better understand The Strand’s current and target audience. Analyzed current site usage patterns and competitors. Conducted detailed content inventory and created site map for new site.
Design Solution: Updated logo and redesigned website so they’re bright, fresh and modern. Built website in WordPress using a custom template so business owner can easily make updates on the fly. Website is mobile-friendly and accessible for older users. Incorporated a home page carousel to highlight featured events, an event calendar, and Google maps for directions.
