FedEx Reporting - Detail Reports

Project Background: For larger companies, shipping is a big part of doing business, and it's crucial that they are able to track and manage their shipping spend. FedEx Reporting is a web-based application that enables customers to request, view and download reports concerning the business activity they have with FedEx. They can check the status of current report requests, schedule weekly and/or monthly reports, and invite other registered users to access their accounts. In the past, this experience has been difficult, cumbersome and prone to errors, resulting in phone calls to their local sales agent.

Problem: How can we modernize the FedEx Reporting experience so that it meets customer needs and allows them to self-serve?

Process: Worked with design strategist to conduct a variety of user research, including focus groups, interviews, surveys, and heuristic testing, to better understand customer needs. Engaged in a series of co-design workshops with business personnel to map out the current system and document requirements, and then reimagined it to make it more efficient. Worked with design team to identify and build out new patterns for tables, dashboards, cards, printing, and mobile. Designs were shown periodically with representative customer users for feedback, as well as usability tested to work out any kinks.

Design Solution: Created​ a new, modern FedEx Reporting tool that is simple, streamlined, and works anywhere from any device. Customers can view shipping details, run reports more quickly and easily, and make better informed business decisions to optimize their shipping spend. Customers can schedule reports to run automatically on their own schedule, and get up-to-date notifications on when reports are ready for review. Customers can use filters and preferences to personalize their experience, and create custom account groups to make multi-account reports easy.
