FedEx Reporting - Dashboard Reports

Project Background: Today, shipping optimization is a time and resource-intensive process that requires skilled expertise in data analysis. This is out of reach for most small and medium businesses with lower shipping spend, making it difficult for them to cross the threshold from “eye-ball” optimization to systematic data optimization.

Problem: How can we provide instant, data-driven insights to customers to help them lower costs and optimize performance?

Process: Worked with third-party to conduct a variety of user research on what customers want and need in terms of reporting. Worked with the business to translate existing reports into measurable metrics and analyzed how those metrics could be used as data-driven insights and combined into a digestible dashboard report. Analyzed dashboard designs and various UI components, and worked with FedEx design team to create universal patterns for dashboards and data visualization.

Design Solution: Created​ first-in-kind designs for dashboards across all device types, complete with interactive charts, filtering and universal color palette for data visualization. Colors comply with WCAG standards and work for different types of data (separate but equal data and sequential data). Worked with dev team to translate designs into the Power BI space. Customers can filter dashboard reports by date, account, shipping options, and location. Dashboards function as a flexible template, which allows for easy creation of new reports.
